This year’s Ilfracombe Film Festival takes place 20-22 April. With themes from surfing to ecology and silver screen classics to zombie horror, there’s something for everyone.
For the surfers they have a great selection of Surf movies across the weekend:
Friday – Will be showing A PLASTIC OCEAN along with THE SKYE’S THE LIMIT, a short film about local woman Cal Major, who paddled around the Isle of Skye on a Stand Up Paddle board. Both films highlight the issues of plastic in our ocean.
TAKE EVERY WAVE: The Life Of Laird Hamilton. A documentary about the life of the big waver surfer who refuses to compete and yet is at the top of his game. This is a UK premiere.
Saturday – The short film showcase features our surf patron, Andrew Cotton with his latest film AFTER THE STORM. There will also be a screening of surf shorts, featuring FINISTERRE, RUWAC PRODUCTIONS & TWO EYES FILMS latest surf comedy THE OUTRIDER. For Gala night, we will be showing the surf horror THE SHALLOWS about a young woman out surfing who gets attacked by a shark and is marooned on a rock.
Sunday – Chill out with NORTH OF THE SUN, a documentary about two young Norwegians who go to live on a deserted beach for nine months, surfing, surviving and collecting all the plastic washed up on the shores.
