SUPERTUBOS, Peniche/Portugal (Wednesday, October 16, 2013) –Contest organizers have called Round 2 of the Rip Curl Pro Portugal presented by Moche ON starting at 8am this morning at the primary venue of Supertubos in Peniche. With improved conditions on offer, the third round of competition is on stand-by for later today.
Stop No. 9 of 10 on the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour (WCT), the Rip Curl Pro Portugal experienced major drama in the race for the ASP World Title during the first four Round 2 heats and the world’s best surfers will resume competition in improved conditions.
“This morning a new swell has brought 3-5ft surf at Supertubos with light side-onshore winds,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge stated. “We’ll start the second round at 8am and have put the third round on stand-by. We’ll monitor the conditions and try to take advantage of the swell on offer.”
