Warriors and Waves Bali: Escape on a Yoga & Surf Retreat this August

August 6, 2013

Come join Mercedes Ngoh, co founder of award wining Yeotown health retreat and one of Europe’s top Yoga teachers at the beautiful Balian resort of Gaja Mina for a one week surf and yoga retreat. Perched on an unspoilt Bali peninsula between two deserted beaches Gaja Mina offers the idyllic ┬álocation to get away for a week of epic surf, great yoga and delicious food.

Surfing and yoga were made for each other. With a board instead of a mat and the ocean as our studio when we surf we move through what is essentially a vinyasa on water. The sequence of cobra in to plank to warrior pose to catch the wave combined with the meditative bliss of sitting out the back waiting for the next wave to come and take us into what could be called surfer’s “samahdi” (ecstasy). On the mat or the waves there is no feeling quite like it

Each day begins with an optional early morning surf followed by a 2 hour dynamic yoga practise. All levels of yoga are catered for so whether you are a beginner or advanced Mercedes will have something for you. After a delicious lunch at the retreat there is a chance for another surf before a more restorative sunset yoga session. One day there will be a trip to Ubud, the spiritual centre of Bali and another day a trip to the bright lights and shopping of Seminyak.

Many of the World’s top pro surfers have added yoga into their training schedules including laird Hamilton and Kelly Slater so come join us in Bali and improve both your yoga and your surfing.

Our next trip is running between August 13th – 20th. Head over to our website to find out how you could be escaping to sunshine and surf this August.
