After reviewing conditions throughout the morning, event organizers for the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover have called a lay day for competition.
The opening stops of the 2013 ASP World Championship Tours, the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast kickstart the respective men’s and women’s campaigns for this season’s world crowns.
“The swell direction has swung and there are waves, but we’re not convinced with how they’re shaping up on the banks today,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “We’ve called men’s and women’s competition off for the day, but will be back to assess conditions at 6:30am tomorrow.”
When competition resumes, up first will be reigning ASP World Champion Joel Parkinson against event wildcard Brent Dorrington (AUS) in the opening heat of Round 2.
Event organizers will reconvene at 6:30am tomorrow to assess conditions for a possible 8am start.
