Eric is 61 and has been surfing for nearly 45 years, his first trip was to the Gower with a 40lb log strapped to a Morris 1000. He’s old skool.
His personal best Contest result was in the Croyde International in the late 70’s, 1st Tigger Newling, 2nd PJ (Pete Jones) and 3rd Eric Davies, back then he was surfing a 6ft fish – He’s now riding the Ageing Rocker by Chops 7’ 10” x 22” x 2 1/16 or his longboard quiver also by Chops 9’ 0”, 9’ 6” , 10’ 0”.
“I’m not too fussy about surf conditions, if there are waves I’m in there!” says Eric.
“I’m definitely up for some more comps in 2013 and beyond, so will be competing in the local Hotdoggers Masters league, though they could do with a new section as I’m 21 years out of the age range! Also in for the BLU (British Longboard Union) Grand Masters in plus the Jesus Classic.”
Eric’s sponsors are Second Skin Surf Shop, Xcel wetsuits and now Old Guys Rule.
61 years old and still stoked, still competing and still charging.
Eric, your an inspiration. Well done Sir.
