Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast Round 4 ON, Women on Standby for Potential Finish Today

February 28, 2012

Round 4 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover, the opening stop on the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour, has been called on this morning, commencing at 7:30am in two-to-three foot (1 metre) waves at Snapper Rocks.

The Gold Coast’s fabled pointbreak will host its fourth, consecutive day of action today as event organizers look to wrap up Round 4 of the men’s event before approaching a potential finish for Stop No. 1 of 7 on the 2012 ASP Women’s World Championship Tour, the Roxy Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover.

“Waves look to be in the two-to-three foot (1 metre) range again this morning and we’ll commence with the men’s Round 4 at 7:30am,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “Looking at the long-range forecast, we unfortunately don’t have anything solid materializing as of now so we’re keen to make the most of the conditions we have on offer. Fortunately today, as with the past few days, the conditions are quite rippable. Following men’s Round 4, we’ll go straight into women’s Round 4 with an eye on potentially finishing by day’s end. The men’s Quarterfinals will also be on standby. As always, we’ll monitor conditions closely and adjust our calls accordingly. Good luck to all our competitors today.”

Up first this morning will be Owen Wright (AUS), 22, Josh Kerr (AUS), 27, and Adriano de Souza (BRA), 25, in the opening heat of the men’s Round 4.

The Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast will be LIVE via http://quiksilverlive.com/progoldcoast/2012

The event will also be available on broadcast LIVE on FUEL TV Australia.
